Eddie McKnight, Managing Director

Eddie formed NSHI Limited in 2005 after leaving his position as Managing Director of Magister Consulting following the completion of his earn-out.  Eddie had started that business in 1997 and sold it to the US owned Interpublic Group (the world’s second largest medical communications business).  When the business was sold, Magister Consulting was one of the fastest growing and most successful healthcare agencies in the UK.

After the sale Eddie was named in the UK’s ‘Who’s Who?’ of most successful business people. This was primarily driven by the successful projects that his team designed, and importantly the consistency of implementation that was evidenced by pharmaceutical clients and NHS practices.

Kim Sergeant, Director

Kim has over 25 years’ experience in client based sales, marketing and the consultancy side of the pharmaceutical industry. Starting out as an organic chemist in the food industry he worked as a quality control manager for a division of Rank Foods before changing career track and joining Pfizer as a GP/Hospital Representative in 1981. Working over the next 20 years in a number of senior national roles in UK affiliates of US and European pharmaceutical companies, Kim developed his skills in management, business development, strategic planning and implementation and project development.

Throughout his career, Kim has worked with colleagues throughout the world on a wide range of projects across many therapeutic areas including anti-infectives, anti-virals, asthma, cardiovascular, CF, CNS, dermatology, GI, haematology, infertility, musculo-skeletal, oncology, psychiatry and transplantation.

In 2002 he moved into consultancy working with key government health organisations, policy makers and influencers on projects wholly sponsored by the pharmaceutical industry. The work resulted in guideline implementation, improvement in health outcomes, funding flow and effective service change in a number of therapeutic areas, many of them within the specialist-commissioning arena.

Dr John Haughney, Medical Advisor

John Haughney is a general practitioner in Glasgow, a research fellow at the University of Aberdeen and President of the International Primary Care Respiratory Group (IPCRG). His particular academic and clinical interest is in the management of common chronic respiratory conditions (asthma and COPD) in the community. He has been involved in the production of national guidelines for asthma and for cough, published extensively and is well known on the national and international speakers’ circuit.

Dr John has a long established interest in the delivery of care, governance and service redesign. He has held positions as clinical governance lead locally, was involved in the Royal College of General Practitioners’ (RCGP) early clinical effectiveness work, – the forerunner of QOF – he served on the Scottish Medicines Consortium for six years (including a spell as vice-chairman) and has worked with NHS Quality Improvement Scotland (QIS) in developing national standards.

Kaye McKnight, Head of Nursing

Kaye’s main role is to ensure that nurse service delivery meets with the exacting standards set by the organisation together with our NHS and pharmaceutical clients. She is also responsible for both the initial training and ongoing development of our nurse advisors and nurse managers in a supportive and motivational environment. Prior to becoming Head of Nursing, Kaye has successfully developed, managed and grown dedicated teams in a variety of therapy areas. Before commencing work as a Nurse Advisor Kaye joined from the NHS where she had worked in Practice Nursing after commencing her professional career in the Secondary Care acute critical care sector (A & E and neuro-surgery). In addition Kaye has experience in medical sales for Johnson & Johnson.
